The show launched her to fame and made her an “It” girl of the 1960s. She won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress in 1969 for Cactus Flower. Other important film roles include Foul Play, Private Benjamin, Overboard, and The First Wives Club. She is also the founder of the Hawn Foundation that supports youth academic programs.
